Well Arched is expanding beyond foot and nail care.

Dr. Krista Archer is now offering advanced aesthetic skin treatments using the Alma Harmony XL Pro at Well Arched in Carroll Gardens, bringing two complementary technologies—ClearLift and IPL—to patients looking to address visible signs of aging, sun exposure, pigmentation, redness, and changes in skin tone and texture.

Treatments are available for the face, neck, and chest and are performed by Dr. Archer herself. They are designed for patients who want noticeable skin improvement without necessarily committing to aggressive resurfacing or extended downtime.

While ClearLift and IPL can each be performed independently, they address different aspects of skin aging and sun damage. For appropriate patients, Dr. Archer can combine the two technologies as part of a more comprehensive skin rejuvenation plan.

What Is ClearLift?

ClearLift is a non-ablative Q-switched Nd laser treatment available on the Alma Harmony XL Pro platform. Unlike an ablative laser that intentionally removes or resurfaces the outer layers of skin, ClearLift delivers energy beneath the surface while leaving the epidermis largely intact.

The technology creates a photoacoustic effect within the targeted tissue and can be used at different treatment depths. This allows Dr. Archer to address signs of aging and pigmentation without the recovery period typically associated with more aggressive resurfacing procedures.

For patients, that translates into a treatment designed to improve the skin while keeping downtime minimal.

What Does ClearLift Treat?

ClearLift is particularly useful for skin rejuvenation. Dr. Archer may recommend it for patients concerned with fine lines, early skin laxity, uneven pigmentation, sun-related changes, and an overall decline in skin quality.

Because ClearLift works beneath the surface of the skin, it can also be appealing to patients who want a gradual, natural-looking improvement rather than the peeling and recovery associated with an ablative resurfacing procedure.

At Well Arched, ClearLift can be performed on the face, neck, and chest, allowing treatment to extend beyond the face when signs of aging or sun exposure are also visible on the neck and décolleté.

What Does ClearLift Feel Like?

One of ClearLift's biggest advantages is that it is designed to be a comfortable treatment with little to no downtime. Most patients tolerate the procedure well, and treatment can generally be performed without the more intensive preparation or recovery associated with ablative laser resurfacing.

During treatment, Dr. Archer systematically delivers the laser energy across the selected area. Patients may notice warmth or mild sensations as the laser is applied, but ClearLift is generally considered a relatively comfortable rejuvenation treatment.

Treatment time varies according to whether the face, neck, chest, or a combination of areas is being treated.

What Should You Expect After ClearLift?

Because ClearLift is non-ablative, the surface of the skin is not intentionally removed. This means patients can generally return to their usual routine quickly.

Some patients may experience temporary warmth, mild redness, or sensitivity after treatment. These effects are generally short-lived, although individual responses vary.

ClearLift results also aren't necessarily about waking up the next morning looking dramatically different. Skin rejuvenation is typically progressive. The goal is improvement in the quality and appearance of the skin over a series of treatments and as the skin responds over time.

How Many ClearLift Treatments Are Recommended?

For skin rejuvenation, Dr. Archer generally recommends a series of approximately three to five ClearLift treatmentsfor optimal and longer-lasting results. The exact number depends on the patient's skin, treatment area, concerns, and response to treatment.

Some improvement may be noticed earlier in the series, but ClearLift is particularly well suited to a progressive treatment strategy. Once the initial series is completed, periodic maintenance treatments may be recommended based on the patient's goals and how the skin changes over time.

This makes ClearLift less about a one-time transformation and more about building and maintaining better skin quality.

What Is IPL?

IPL stands for intense pulsed light. Although it is frequently grouped together with laser treatments, IPL is technically a light-based treatment rather than a laser.

The Harmony XL Pro delivers carefully selected wavelengths of light that can target chromophores such as melanin in unwanted pigmentation and hemoglobin in visible vascular concerns. The treatment can therefore be especially useful when the primary goal is improving uneven coloration rather than treating only texture or fine lines.

At Well Arched, IPL treatments are available for the face, neck, and chest.

What Does IPL Treat?

IPL is particularly useful for the visible effects of sun exposure and uneven skin tone. Depending on the individual patient and the applicator and settings selected by Dr. Archer, treatment may address concerns such as sun spots, age spots, freckles and other superficial pigmentation, as well as certain visible vascular concerns and redness.

This makes IPL particularly appealing for patients whose skin has accumulated multiple small areas of discoloration over time. Rather than treating one individual spot in isolation, treatment can be planned around improving the overall appearance of the area.

The face may be the most obvious treatment area, but the neck and chest frequently reveal significant cumulative sun exposure as well. Treating these areas can help create a more cohesive result rather than rejuvenating the face while leaving the décolleté untreated.

What Does IPL Feel Like?

During IPL treatment, pulses of light are delivered across the targeted skin. Patients commonly describe a brief snapping or warming sensation with each pulse. Comfort varies according to the treatment area, settings, and individual sensitivity.

Dr. Archer adjusts treatment parameters according to the patient's skin type and the concern being addressed. Because IPL interacts with pigment in the skin, appropriate patient selection and an accurate history of recent sun exposure are particularly important.

What Happens After IPL?

IPL generally involves limited downtime, but the post-treatment response is different from ClearLift.

Temporary redness and warmth may occur after treatment. When pigmentation is being targeted, brown spots may initially appear darker before gradually fading or flaking as the treated pigment clears. Patients should resist the temptation to scrub or pick at these areas and allow the skin to progress through its normal post-treatment response.

Sun protection is particularly important following IPL. Protecting the treated area from UV exposure not only supports recovery but also helps protect the results from the same environmental exposure that contributed to pigmentation in the first place.

How Many IPL Treatments Are Recommended?

The number of IPL treatments depends on the type and extent of pigmentation or vascular changes being treated. Some patients may notice visible improvement after an individual session, while a series of treatments is commonly recommended when the goal is broader correction of sun damage, pigmentation, or redness.

For many appropriate patients, Dr. Archer may recommend approximately three treatments as an initial series, with the treatment plan adjusted according to the skin's response and the concern being addressed. Periodic maintenance can then be considered as new sun damage, pigmentation, or redness develops over time.

The objective isn't to commit every patient to the same number of sessions. Dr. Archer evaluates the skin first and creates a treatment plan based on what is actually being treated.

Who Is a Good Candidate for ClearLift?

ClearLift may be particularly appealing to patients who are beginning to notice fine lines, mild laxity, uneven pigmentation, or changes in overall skin quality but don't want the downtime associated with aggressive resurfacing.

Because ClearLift uses Q-switched Nd technology and can be customized to different treatment depths, it can be considered for a broad range of patients. Skin type, medical history, medications, the specific pigment being treated, and individual treatment goals still need to be evaluated before treatment.

It can also be a good option for someone interested in maintaining skin quality proactively rather than waiting until more significant signs of aging develop.

Who Is a Good Candidate for IPL?

IPL is particularly useful for patients whose primary concerns involve sun damage, superficial brown pigmentation, uneven skin tone, or certain visible redness and vascular changes.

Patient selection is especially important because IPL interacts with melanin. Skin type, tanning, recent sun exposure, the nature of the pigmentation, medications, and other factors can influence whether IPL is appropriate and how it should be performed.

Not every brown spot should automatically be treated with light or laser energy. Any lesion that appears suspicious or requires medical diagnosis should be appropriately evaluated before cosmetic treatment.

Who Should Not Have ClearLift or IPL?

Energy-based treatments aren't appropriate for everyone, and the specific contraindications for ClearLift and IPL aren't identical. This is one reason treatment begins with an evaluation rather than simply selecting a service from a menu.

Patients who are pregnant, have certain active skin infections or open wounds in the treatment area, take particular photosensitizing medications, have certain medical conditions, or have a history that may affect healing may need to postpone treatment or consider another option.

For IPL in particular, recent tanning and significant sun exposure can affect treatment safety because increased melanin in the skin can also absorb the delivered light energy. Patients should be forthcoming about sun exposure, self-tanning products, medications, skincare products, previous procedures, and any history of unusual reactions to light or laser treatments.

Dr. Archer reviews these factors before determining whether either treatment is appropriate.

ClearLift vs. IPL: Which One Do You Need?

This is where the two technologies become particularly interesting.

Although both can contribute to younger, healthier-looking skin, they don't do exactly the same thing.

ClearLift is especially useful when the treatment goal includes rejuvenation, fine lines, mild laxity, deeper pigmentation, and improvement in overall skin quality.

IPL is particularly useful when visible sun damage, superficial brown spots, uneven pigmentation, or vascular redness are more prominent concerns.

Many patients, of course, have both.

Years of sun exposure don't create only one type of change. The same patient may have brown spots across the cheeks and chest, visible redness around the nose, early fine lines, and changes in firmness or texture.

Treating only one component may leave the others untouched.

Why Combine ClearLift and IPL?

For appropriate patients, ClearLift and IPL can be combined as part of a comprehensive rejuvenation plan because the technologies target different aspects of the skin.

IPL can address visible superficial pigmentation and vascular concerns, while ClearLift can work at different depths to address pigmentation and support overall rejuvenation, including fine lines and skin laxity.

Rather than asking which treatment is universally "better," Dr. Archer can determine what combination makes sense based on what she sees in the patient's skin.

Some patients may benefit primarily from ClearLift. Others may be better suited to IPL. For patients with multiple concerns, combining the technologies can allow Dr. Archer to address several components of skin aging and sun damage within a coordinated treatment plan.

Treat the Face—But Don't Forget the Neck and Chest

One of the most common mistakes in aesthetic skincare is focusing exclusively on the face.

The neck and chest are frequently exposed to many of the same environmental factors, particularly UV radiation, but often receive less consistent skincare and sun protection. Over time, that can result in visible pigmentation, redness, fine lines, and other signs of photoaging.

At Well Arched, ClearLift and IPL can be used on the face, neck, and chest, allowing Dr. Archer to develop a treatment plan that considers the entire visible area rather than stopping at the jawline.

For some patients, treating these areas together creates a more natural and cohesive rejuvenation strategy.

Advanced Skin Treatments at Well Arched

The introduction of ClearLift and IPL represents another step in the evolution of Well Arched.

In addition to the podiatric and regenerative services Dr. Archer provides at the Brooklyn practice, patients can now see her for physician-performed aesthetic skin treatments using the Alma Harmony XL Pro.

ClearLift and IPL treatments are available exclusively at Well Arched in Carroll Gardens and are not currently offered at Dr. Archer's Manhattan office.

Each treatment begins with an assessment of the patient's skin, concerns, medical history, and goals so Dr. Archer can determine whether ClearLift, IPL, or a combination of the two is the most appropriate approach.

The objective isn't to change the way you look. It's to address the accumulated changes that can make your skin look less even, less luminous, or more aged than you'd like—and to do so with a treatment plan designed specifically for your skin.

For patients interested in rejuvenating the face, neck, chest, or a combination of areas, ClearLift and IPL provide two distinct technologies that can be used individually or strategically combined.

And now, both are available in Brooklyn at Well Arched.
